MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.

Synopsys, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNPS), the world leader in semiconductor design software, today announced that the thirteenth annual Synopsys Users Group (SNUG) in Europe will have a new technical chairperson, Tobias Thiel of Motorola GmbH, and will now be held on May 6-7, 2004 at a new location, the Kempinski Hotel Airport in Munich, Germany. For the first time, SNUG Europe will not be held in conjunction with the Design, Automation and Test in Europe (DATE) conference.

SNUG Europe is the annual meeting of Synopsys users from throughout Europe. It is an open forum that provides Synopsys users with the opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss problems and explore solutions. SNUG also gives users a chance to meet with Synopsys executives and product experts. The program is highly technical and is primarily developed by users.

"SNUG Europe is a true users' conference where presenters share their real design experiences and don't hold back with feedback on the features and usability of Synopsys tools," said Tobias Thiel, SNUG Europe 2004 technical chairperson. "In addition to the technical sessions, the opportunity to meet informally with fellow engineers from all parts of Europe has made SNUG an exciting opportunity to share technical information that can be a real benefit in our daily work."

The traditional SNUG program covers the entire spectrum of semiconductor design from system level to tape-out, using system-on-chips, ASICs and FPGAs. In addition to the traditional program, this year's Munich conference is expanding to include special sessions for users of the Saber® system-level design tools.

Attendees are encouraged to present at SNUG Europe if they have information on high-level or physical design methodologies, RTL-to-GDSII design flows, system simulation, mixed-technology or experiences with Synopsys tools that would be of interest to other users. The call for papers is open until December 1, 2003. Registration for SNUG Europe 2004 will open on March 8, 2004. Complete conference details will also be available at that time.
