Cloud native EDA tools & pre-optimized hardware platforms
Synopsys, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNPS), a world leader in semiconductor design software, today announced that the Silicon Valley Technical Institute (SVTI) is the recipient of a Charles Babbage grant from Synopsys through Synopsys' worldwide university program. Synopsys' university program helps shape the future of electronic design and semiconductor industries by providing universities worldwide with state-of-the-art tools, training and technology. The program supports education, enables academic research, fosters innovation and promotes careers in microelectronic design. Synopsys' grant helps further SVTI's vision to achieve and maintain a position as a premier and prestigious organization which provides leading-edge, quality education to the electronic industry, worldwide.
The Charles Babbage grant gives SVTI software licenses for Synopsys' comprehensive electronic design automation (EDA) University Tools Package, along with curriculum support, professional training and commercial user support. Access to Synopsys software enables SVTI to integrate sophisticated electronic design tools, backed by Synopsys' acclaimed customer service, into their advanced curriculum, resulting in robust and modern training programs.
Recognizing the ongoing requirement for strong ties between industry and academia, Synopsys has been collaborating with SVTI in the development of microelectronic design curricula and advanced training for high-tech engineering professionals. Synopsys EDA tools such as Design Compiler, VCS MX, Formality, PrimeTime, Hercules, HSPICE and HSPICE RF are already used in SVTI advanced curriculum.
As a result of the Charles Babbage grant, SVTI faculty will be able to expand their training programs into all aspects of state-of-the-art System-on-Chip design including implementation, verification, test, and design for manufacturing. SVTI's role in providing continued education and training for electronic engineers in Silicon Valley is critical to help to maintain a competitive edge for the engineering community.
"We are honored to be the recipient of such a prestigious award from a leader in EDA like Synopsys," said Dr. Ali Iranmanesh, CEO and chairman, Silicon Valley Technical Institute. "SVTI will use additional Synopsys tools to provide training for professionals in the areas of leading-edge digital, analog, mixed-signal and radio frequency IC design."
"Synopsys selected SVTI to receive a Charles Babbage grant because of its focus and commitment to the high-tech electronic industry as well as the quality of its training programs," said Rich Goldman, vice president, Strategic Market Development at Synopsys. "SVTI's efforts in maintaining and enhancing the competitiveness of Silicon Valley experts are commendable."
About the Charles Babbage Grant
The Charles Babbage Grant provides select universities worldwide with state-of-the-art EDA tools, training, support and technology. It enables institutions of higher education to enhance their expertise in microelectronics circuits and system design. Use of the Synopsys tools from the grant helps universities to better prepare their graduates for the future by providing hands-on experience with current industry practices, modern design techniques, and actual design tools, enhancing their understanding of how learning applies to the real world of SoC design. The grant is named after British mathematician and inventor Charles Babbage, who designed and built mechanical computing machines on principles that anticipated the modern electronic computers of today over 150 years ago.
