Cloud native EDA tools & pre-optimized hardware platforms
Synopsys, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNPS), the world leader in semiconductor design software, today announced that Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG) has signed a new multi-year volume purchase agreement with Synopsys, extending and expanding deployment of Synopsys Galaxy™ front-end design platform for Philips' semiconductor activities. The new agreement also expands Philips' use of Galaxy tools in the key design areas of power management and design-for-testability. Philips will use the products mainly for designs targeting its CMOS090 (90 nanometer) and CMOS065 (65 nanometer) semiconductor processes and beyond.
"Philips' standardization on Galaxy front-end tools in its reference design flow contributes to the first-time right success rate of its advanced products. Getting a single reference design flow using the best EDA tools available is important in helping reach this goal," said Lambert van den Hoven, vice president and general manager, Design Technology Group (DTG), Philips Semiconductors. "With the recent electronics recession behind us, Philips' semiconductor division has turned its attention to growth and the Synopsys agreement is structured to grow with our business. We have been successful with Synopsys' tools for many years and we look forward to continue this successful partnership."
"As a leader in the consumer and mobile electronics sectors, Philips is designing some of the most demanding chips using the most advanced silicon technologies," said Antun Domic, senior vice president and general manager of Synopsys' Implementation Group. "By extending and expanding our partnership, we will be working with Philips to continue to meet their designs schedules while additionally solving the challenging problems of power consumption and advanced testability that are prevalent in 90 nanometer designs and below."
