MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq: SNPS) today announced that George Bayz, vice president of Synopsys' Optical Solutions Group, has been elected as a Fellow Member of The Optical Society (OSA). The OSA Fellows program recognizes members who have served with distinction in the advancement of optics and photonics. The election of Mr. Bayz to the 2018 OSA Fellows Class recognizes his contributions to the optics industry through his leadership of Synopsys' Optical Solutions Group as well as his volunteer service as Treasurer of OSA. Mr. Bayz will formally accept the honor at the Optical Networking and Communication Conference in San Diego, Calif. in March 2018.

Prior to Synopsys, Mr. Bayz was President and CEO of Optical Research Associates (ORA®) and served on the ORA Board of Directors. Prior to ORA, Mr. Bayz was President and CEO of PeoplePoint Systems, Inc.; General Manager and Executive Vice President of Artemis International Solutions Corp.; President and CEO of Thinque Systems; and President and CEO of MAI Systems Corporation. He received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and a J.D. from Loyola Marymount University.
