The Board of Directors for the Electronic Design Automation Consortium (EDA Consortium) has appointed Robert Gardner as the organization's new Executive Director. In this capacity, Mr. Gardner will manage all of the industry group's operations and serve as one of its spokespersons. Mr. Gardner has been an EDA Consortium volunteer and Board member for more than ten years, most recently serving as chief financial officer and Treasurer. He has more than 40 years of management, engineering, operations and sales experience, and has held executive management positions at a number of EDA companies. Mr. Gardner has also had senior leadership roles at Exemplar Logic, Bridges2Silicon, Design Acceleration, Advanced Micro Devices, Avnet Corporation, Signetics/Philips, and Intersil. Mr. Gardner holds a BSEE (Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering) from California Polytechnic State University, Pomona, California.

"With the EDA industry growing against a strong semiconductor backdrop, we look forward to Bob playing a vocal leadership role in crafting the next phase of the EDA Consortium's development," said Aart de Geus, chairman of the EDA Consortium and chairman and chief executive officer of Synopsys, Inc. "Having served with the EDA Consortium for a number of years, Bob will be able to use his strong organizational and industry knowledge to move the Consortium forward quickly and effectively. The EDA Consortium Board also wants to thank Pam Parrish for her dedication, and for bringing increased visibility to our industry during the past ten years. We wish her continued success."

"As an organization, the EDA Consortium can achieve an impact greater than what individual companies can accomplish alone. Two examples of this are the Consortium's recent efforts related to export controls and to interoperability with the EDA Industry OS Roadmap," said Mr. Gardner. "I look forward to working with our leaders to reach common industry goals."

Mr. Gardner lives in the San Jose area with his wife, Monique. They have two grown children.
